Our recently published manuscript, The plastic-scape: Applying seascape ecology to marine plastic pollution explores how principles from seascape ecology can be applied to plastic pollution and management.
Marine plastic is a heterogenous pollutant that has social-ecological drivers and impacts across the globe. Addressing this pollution and its impacts requires a holistic, systematic approach.
Seascape ecology offers theory, methods, and tools that can be applied to better understand the plastic-scape, as a spatially-explicit social-ecological system, and its driver. Ultimately, this can inform better management of this global environmental challenge.
